Good day!

Im working on a Dell Dimension E521 Win XP Pro SP2.  I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP, installed ALL drivers and Windows updates, everything seems ok.  But as soon as I insert a CD or a DVD it starts reading it and then BAM!  it comes up with a DSOD!  what in the world!   I also tried booting the cd or dvd from BIOS, same thing!

any idea why this is happening?

thanks!

What is your current burning software installed? Try uninstalling the DVD/CD drive in device manager and reboot your computer and let windows detect and reinstall your optical drive software driver.
