Hello. So Idk what happened, I just remember I accidentally got into the start menu on windows 8 with all the apps and mosaic display, and I somehow managed to make it all disappear. Now there's a start menu, but there's no mosaic with all the apps and programs and not even the Start Menu with the shut down option, so I had to turn off my computer by clicking the power button.

Idk what to do, I'm not into computers or softwares, but I can't work like this.

I'd appreciate help and would be thankful!

Tiago

When you say start menu, do you mean the start screen?

I'm having what I think is the same issue. Caused by a different source in my case. I had a prompt to update the Nvidia card driver. I accepted and the it asked for system restart. I accepted. After that, the only thing I get is the "cartoon" image of the Seattle needle with date and time...I click on that to launch the user sign in. I click on my user ID...then enter the password and then it cycles right back to the Seattle image. The only way I can get to the apps tiles is to hold <shift> and press F8 repeatedly during boot up. When I click on the Desktop tile everything goes black and I have to kill the system with the power button. I have also tried going into safe mode and there is no apparent way to modify the start process to get to the apps tiles or the desktop. I have also tried system restore across 5 dates from the purchase date a month ago with no effect. I'm trying to avoid wiping the system and starting over because I have a few work related apps that are a lengty nightmare to instal again. Any notion what's going on? I tried both Microsoft and Asus tech support with zero success...the poor girl at Microsoft knew less than I do.

I have avoid trying a refresh because I don't want to lose several work related programs that are a nightmare to re-install. Any other options?
