Welcome to BP Ellen.

Sorry to grab you thread but I've had the same problem with my IE8 for many months. I recommends installing IE9 which I don't like I just want IE8 working as it should do. I have IE8 on my WinXP destop and that never fails.

My MiniToolBox Result.txt.

You will see it says Description: The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. I've run chkdsk /f I left it running and I didn't notice if it found any errors and if it fixed them where is the results file? I've opened Control Panel\Administration Tools\Event Viewer but I can't see Chkdsk log file. I've searched the drive for Chkdsk but nothing shows apart from the exe's.

You can locate the chkdsk log by going to Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools>  Event Viewer> Windows Logs> Application.

Scroll down the Application Events and find Wininit in the Source Column.

You can also use Find in the right column to help locate each Wininit entry. Open Wininit and it should be there.

I would suggest that you run chkdsk c:/r,  chkdsk /r does the same thing that chdsk /f does, but also will check for bad sectors on the disk and recovers any readable information.

I would also suggest running sfc /scannow.

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted and incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Go to  Start, click on All Programs, click on Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, click on Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

A page similar to the one below will open.

Screenshot2.jpg

Type sfc /scannow and then press ENTER:

One of the reoccurring errors that is seen in the Application Errors is the (08007002), this error involves a problem with your Windows update/s.  I would suggest using the Fix it tool as outlined at the web page the link below will take you to.

You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services

Thanks for that Arachibutyrophobia.

There are alot of log files in there and I can't remember which day I ran chkdsk /f.

I will run it again then look for a new error log.

Please to the things that i requested in my last post.

When you run chkdsk again, please remember to run chkdsk /r, not chkdsk /f.

In post #3 I requested that you run sfc /scannow and use the fix it tool at the website the link opens.  I can't help you if you don't do what is requested.

Sorry dc3 this thread what moved from an exiting one with the same problem.

I've run sfc /scannow many times I've also ran the Fix it files but they never say if it found anything, MicrosoftFixit50202.msi, MicrosoftFixit.IEAddon.Run.exe, FixitCenter_Run.exe

I ran FitCenter_Run.exe and fixed everything it suggest then I lost my wifi connection I had to do a system restore to get it back so that didn't fix anything it only fooked it.
