Now what? I have a problem when just at random a internet explorer window opens up and an ad is beamed into it, i run Spybot S&D but it says someting like "can't fix problems as they are associated with memory" then it asks if i want to run it on the next sys startup, but it never does... instead when i logon a scren pops up, unrelated to Spybot S&D saying it cant do something because it has not got enough memory or something like that, that really annoys me. So i pres Ctrl + Alt + Del: then I get a screen saying, and I quote; "the task manager has been disabled by your administrator :flowers: ... but i am the administrator. That really screws me up... oh yeah, and just the other day i was trying to install java runtime environment and i got an error message "1305 : cannot read from file C:\Documents and settings\patrick\application data{ "then some stupid number sequence" } J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 updte 6.msi verify that the file exists and that you can access it, it was probably because i cant access it because my computer recently crashed and is stll getting onto it's feet ... what now?

Hi,

The forums are really busy, that explains why logs get behind. We start with the oldest logs first. If you still need some help, please start with posting a new hijackthislog in this thread. Don't start with a new thread.
Then I'll take a look.

Ok Dude/Dudette,

First of all, thanks for helping me, i was getting worried for a second. Secondly soem of the problems scince my last post have fixed such as the Ctrl+Alt+Del dialog box now working but thats all. I have this pesky adaware thingy (i think thats what it's called) that pops up every few seconds and makes it really hard to play full screen games and event to type this message.

The JRE thing still doesn't work and here is a new HJT Log:

Problems: I think it's the "C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\25D9.tmp and the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\A848.tmp" doing the adaware stuff but, oh shock horror i try to delete it and it says that it is in use... I press Ctrl+Alt+Del and see them there, i highlight and Click End Process and shock horror it says Acess is denied. I am Administrator on this P.C. Why the heck does that happen? Can I fix it? How? That is about all i need to know as well as the JRE thing i mentioned before, in the earlier post.

Ok, let's deal with the rest now..

Please perform next steps (all of them) in the right order:

* Download Brute Force Uninstaller.
Unzip it to a folder of it’s own (c:\BFU).
Read here how to unzip/extract properly:
http://metallica.geekstogo.com/xpcompressedexplanation.html
Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe

Next to the 'scriptfile to execute'-window you'll see a little icon as shown in next picture: Posted Image
When you click that icon, a little window will open that says: 'Please enter the full URL to the sript you want to execute'
In the field, copy and paste next URL:

http://metallica.geekstogo.com/alcanshorty.bfu

Click Ok.
Then click execute in Brute Force Uninstaller.

Extra note:
If nothing happens after pressing the Execute button, this means that the script didn't download. In that case, download the script ( alcanshorty.bfu ) manually from above url ( rightclick on it and choose 'save as' and save it in your BFU-folder). Then start BFU.exe again and click the browse button next to the 'scriptfile to execute'-window
Browse to the script you downloaded and Click Ok and Execute in Brute Force Uninstaller.

Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.

Please download Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to your desktop.
  • Close all windows before continuing.
  • Double-click Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Destroyer will close and re-open in approximately 1 minute. Click OK
  • When Look2Me-Destroyer re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
  • You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
  • When completed, you will receive this message: Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Destroyer will now shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Your computer will then shutdown.
  • Turn your computer back on.
If Look2Me-Destroyer does not reopen automatically, reboot and try again.

If you receive a message from your firewall about this program accessing the internet please allow it.

If you receive a runtime error '339' please download MSWINSCK.OCX from the link below and place it in your C:\Windows\System32 Directory.
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/images/lib/MSWINSCK.OCX

* Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
  • Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
  • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
  • Click the "Delete Cookies" button
  • Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
  • When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):
  • Go to Tools > Options.
  • Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
  • Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
  • Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.
* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin
  • Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
  • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Press OK to remove them.
* Perform an onlinescan with panda: (please use this scanner instead of any other scanner!)
Panda Online
- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the Panda scan report Together with the contents of Look2Me-Destroyer.txt present on your desktop and a new HiJackThis log.

Ok...
You might not be happy with this once i tell you what happened. Firstly, the L2M destroyer thing, opened it, what 8-10 times in about ten minuets each instance but every time i pressed the "run as a task" button it would never reboot. This one is a bit worse, i tried the panda thing in firefox, lo behold it needed IE 4+ to run it... I deleted that because it was an annoying piece of c***. What i'm asking is , where can I get IE 4 or better and how come the L2M Dest thing don't work?

Hi, concerning the Look2me Destroyer. Once you click 'Run as a task' it won't reboot yet, you have to click the 'Scan for L2M' and then the 'Remove L2M'.
Then it will reboot.

If it doesn't work, reboot and try again.

That is a REAL bad idea you deleted your Internet Explorer. How will you be able to update your windows now? Getting rid of Internet Explorer can cause a corrupted system.
Not sure how you get rid of it though..

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downlo...p1/default.mspx

don't download/install this now.. because as long as your system is infected it may cause problems.

Skip the step with Panda and perform this step with Trendmicro Online:
http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/consumer/h...call_launch.php
This one works in Firefox.

But as I already said.. if thing won't run properly on your system anymore, even when malware is gone, it's caused because you got rid of IE..; and I can't guarantee that downloading/installing above will work though. Seen this already befor. The best way to solve everything was a windows reinstall.

Hello,

Skip the step with Look2me destroyer and the online scan. Just post a new hijackthislog so I can see where we stand now, because this is getting confusing.

I just hope you performed at least the step with BFU.exe and alcanshorty.bfu
