Problem with INTERNET - "Not Responding and locking"

I have a problem when I'm working on my computer's internet.  It goes into a "Not Responding" period and locks up the system and eventually crashes.  I restart/reset and it goes a good while and then goes through the same process.

 

I'm really in a predicament because I don't have the money to buy a new computer and re-buy the programs that I have and would like to have someone help me figure out the problem and to fix it.

 

I've been running CCcleaner a couple of times and it finds problems and it deletes them and it's good for awhile and then it goes right back into it.

 

I ran MALWARE tonight and it still showed some infected stuff and I'm at the point where I'm ready to totally throw the computer out.

 

What can you do for me?  Or point me in the right direction.

Try downloading Speccy and then install the program.  To post and publish a snapshot of your PC.
. In the Menu bar, click File -> Publish Snapshot
. Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard
. On your next reply, right-click on a empty space and click Paste on reply box then click Post.

Download SecurityCheck.exe from Here

. Run SecurityCheck and follow the instruction from inside the code box.
. When the scan is finished, a notepad will automatically open as check.txt
   Please copy and paste the contents here on your next reply.

 


Download MiniToolBox and select
List Last 10 Event Viewers, List Installed Programs and List Users, Partitions and Memory Size.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply.

Remove Fixcleaner optimizer from your PC as they are not worth using including any other registry cleaners installed as they are all just crapwares. Remove also Constant Guard Protection and install a free antivirus http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download

Remove Adware : http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/
Click on Search then Delete. Copy/paste the result on your next reply.

Download and install a latest Mbam version then scan for Malware using free Malwarebytes
Install then run a quick scan only after updating to the latest definition. Post also the results on your next reply.

I'm glad jhayz suggested removing Constant Guard.

Constant Guard Protection Suite is offered free to Comcast internet customers. It consists of 2 separate components.
Those are Constant Guard and Norton Security Suite.

At a minimum, uninstall ONLY the Constant Guard component. Removing this will have no effect on Norton, which will not be removed. Of course you also have the option to uninstall Norton  and using a different antivirus. You will also need to enable the Windows firewall or install a firewall program. Each one is a separate entry in Add Remove Programs.

Another component of Constant Guard is Guarded ID. If you don't use this feature you can uninstall it.

I'm in the middle of completing the last assignment/task - I removed the Comcast product and I downloaded the Microsoft Security Essentials.  I'm assuming this is a virus protection and can be used in place of the anti virus programs.  It's running a scan right now and then I will move on to doing the adware things.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a viable antivirus alternative. As I stated earlier, make sure the Windows firewall is enabled. You can do that from Control Panel/Windows Firewall. You did also uninstall Norton in addition to Constant Guard?

 

If you are ever tempted in the future to install any Comcast branded software DON'T do it. Comcast does not have a stellar history when it comes to branded software.

I have NEVER used any of their "offerings". If you see a product called Easy Solve leave it alone. It will not solve anything and is nothing more than a glorified cache cleaner. Neither will it solve connection problems.

The Windows Firewall is on and YES when I uninstalled the Comcast program it appears that it uninstalled Norton's also.

 

 

Microsoft Security Essentials is a viable antivirus alternative. As I stated earlier, make sure the Windows firewall is enabled. You can do that from Control Panel/Windows Firewall. You did also uninstall Norton in addition to Constant Guard?

 

If you are ever tempted in the future to install any Comcast branded software DON'T do it. Comcast does not have a stellar history when it comes to branded software.

I have NEVER used any of their "offerings". If you see a product called Easy Solve leave it alone. It will not solve anything and is nothing more than a glorified cache cleaner. Neither will it solve connection problems.

I hope that getting rid of Constant Guard helps to solve your issues. You are not the only one who has complained of slow systems and not responding when it is installed. Just to complete also with Queen-Evie's removal suggestions, did you happen to use the Removal Tool when uninstalling Norton? Remove also McAfee Security Scan Plus by the McAfee Folder in Program Files and look for the uninstall file. It may have come from these Norton and McAfee softwares plus the unwanted cleaners/optimizers that have cause your freezing problem.
