Good Evening,

Currently unable to uninstall internet explorer 9. Unable to even locate it.

Attempted the simple solution...'View Installed updates', and simply locate the 'Windows Internet Explorer 9' and uninstall, with no luck.

Also found on Microsoft's website, one of their "FIX-IT" solutions, which was not effective.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Just some additional information, the internet explorer is actually still working.

Thanking you in advance,

David

Click on Control panel-programs and features and on left side click on Turn windows features On or off

Do you find IE 9 in the list?

If its missing ,launch command prompt as administrator and run this command

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*9.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

If this command fails with access denied error, try a system restore.

I dont know of any other way.

Thank you for your response,

I forgot to mention that I attempted to install INTERNET EXPLORER 10  almost 5 times.

All failures, I read in a post to attempt to remove the older versions of explorer before installing a new one if this problem exists.

On the list you mentioned above, the only item that appears is INTERNET EXPLORER 10.

But, in 'internet explorer' under 'settings', 'about' -- shows that it is simply internet explorer 9.

I attempted your command line and showed an ERROR. No Internet Explorer 9.

Any ideas?

How do I remove the mentioned above 'Explorer 10' that was found in WINDOWS FEATURES?

Do I simply remove the checkmark?

No...

Do you have one of those command lines, but for explorer 10.

On the list you mentioned above, the only item that appears is INTERNET EXPLORER 10.

Uncheck it.After uninstallation finishes ,restart the PC

Can you launch Internet explorer now?

Yes. I can launch explorer now. (I have not removed the checkmark).

When I open explorer's tools -- then 'about explorer'

displays that this version is 9.08112...

I will complete the other you mentioned above,

I am only running 3 separate malware / rootkits detections at the same time.

Idea from another forum, just in case...

I asked you to uncheck the checkmark from IE 10 which is shown in Windows features list. This will uninstall IE 10

Restart the PC and let me know if you can launch IE.If you can launch IE please check the ABOUT info for the version number.

Why are running malware scans?

This is not my computer.

Everytime the person gives it back to me there are problems...

CCleaner, registry cleaner, avast, malwarebytes, superantispyware, ESet Online Scanner, JRT, TDSSKiller

Just to ensure that everything is functional.

Many issues found.

I appreciate your response, will complete your post as soon as these last scans complete.

Thank you again,

yes sorry,

attempted to remove 'internet explorer 10' from WINDOWS FEATURES

upon completion, windows shows that all features were unable to be removed

the computer was restarted,

explorer still remains as version 9.08112...

I reopened WINDOWS FEATURES again, and found that 'Internet Explorer 10' still had a checkmark  located beside it.

I attempted the whole process again to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Try a system restore or ignore it if IE doesnt have any issues.

Sorry about the delay...

I was being lazy

Had other issues with my computer that became first priority.

No excuse for wasting your time.

I have tried to access the webpage you have listed above, but it no longer exists.

Can you assist any further?
