So, I downloaded Age of Empries II at the uging of several of my friends, and I noticed a small, 20.5kb file called mythxpak.exe.  I clicked on it, and it showed me no information about it, which I thought was odd.  I did some research, and found out most people said it was a virus.      I ran Malwarebytes Anti Malware in Safe Mode, as well as Avast and they both found nothing.    (I use Windows Vista.)    I'm rather worried, so now I seek advice.

Hello Tex
"mythxpak.exe"  belongs to the Age of Empires expansion pack so if the file is on CD /DVD or inside a compressed file /folder then a antimalware scanner  can not remove it.

Please download TFC (Temp File Cleaner) by Old Timer and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link

 • Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
 • Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
 • Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
 • TFC will clear out all temp folders for all user accounts (temp, IE temp, Java, FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari), including Administrator, All Users, LocalService, NetworkService, and any other accounts in the user folder.
 • Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.
Note: It is normal for the computer to be slow to boot after running TFC cleaner the first time.

After a reboot see if it is there.

How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook

It's not a malware. Do you still use AOE as if we remove it, it may kill the game.

Ah, okay.  No, no, I got paranoid and uninstalled.       I saw a bunch of websites that said it was bad, but I guess it was just lies.   Thanks though.

If you uninstalled AOE and still have that file you can remove it thru  Malwarebytes' File Assassin.

Open MBAM and click on the More Tools tab.

1.Start FileASSASSIN and select a file by dragging it onto the text area or select it using the (...) button.
2.Select a removal method from the list.
3.Click Execute and the removal process will commence.

Warning: Please use caution with FileASSASSIN as deleting critical system files may cause system errors.

In other words be sure to click on the correct file to remove.

It said that it did not exist, or that FileAssassin was not able to reach it.
