Hey there,

One of my buds recently got win xp installed on his PC by a tech.

My friend isn't sure if the copy is genuine or not.

What do you suggest to detect a pirated copy other than visiting microsoft.com

Thank you.

I'm not entirely sure whether you can connect to MS based on your post. If you can...

Try to download this file: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35780

It has to go through a validation to download that file.
