Platform: Windows 7 Home 64 bit
Sometimes when I connect my HP Deskjet 3000 J310 via USB to my laptop, there is a pop-up from Windows telling me that the USB device was not recognized. When I look at the Windows Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus controllers", it shows an "unrecognized device". Note that this problem does not always occur and I have not been able to discover a pattern for when it does occur. When the problem occurs, I need to reboot the laptop and then the printer works properly.
I tried the following to fix this annoying problem:
(1) Uninstall HP software & reboot
(2) Reinstall the original HP printer software from the CD that came with the printer (2 years old)
(3) Download and install the latest "basic" printer driver from HP ("DJ3000_J310_Basicx64_1315") dated 10-22-2012
This did not fix the problem. I still need to sometimes reboot.
Any thoughts about what is wrong and how to fix?
