Good morning, I need some help with my HP HDX 16 (64-bit) Notebook PC with Vista. Yesterday I turned on my laptop and a black screen that says, "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause." I have not installed any new Hard / software. Then it gives me the option to launch the startup repair or boot windows normally. If I try to boot Windows normally, it just gives a microsecond view of a blue screen then it puts me right back where I started. If I try the startup repair, it tries running for a minute, then it says, "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically," and gives me the option to send or not send the info to Microsoft. I tried restarting the computer, and press F8 after the BIOS boot screen (Manufacturer splash screen) this gave me the list of startup options (Start Windows Normally, Safe Mode, ETC.) I chose option called Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure, and continue booting. This allowed me to see the bluescreen for more than a "microsecond ", it said "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to computer INTERCRUPT_EXCEPTION_NOT_ HANDLED". It will not let me into any Safe Modes. It will not let me do any restarts from an earlier time. Maybe I have a malware virus that is keeping windows from starting but, I cannot fix it if I cannot get the fix in the computer. So if anyone knows a way to get combofix or something else in this HP Notebook please let me know, Thanks!
