Hey,

My laptop freezes often and usually requires a hard reboot. It used to happen when I was watching youtube videos a lot, and I tried everything I could think of to figure out what was causing the issue. Some of these things included: deactivating/uninstalling flash, running hardware diagnostics, trying different browers, updating the firmware on my router. Eventually I did a factory reset on my laptop, and the problem persists. It seems to crash often when I'm downloading torrents, so I tried using different torrent clients, but it continued. I've noticed that it crashes when I don't have a torrent client running too though.

Does anyone have any ideas what I could do to locate the problem?

Thank you :busy:

There are numerous instance of (Source: VzCdbSvc) errors, this is part of VAIO Entertainment studio.  This is a non essential application.  It can be used with a home network, but Windows can do this as well.  I would suggest deleting it.

Another error is for RazerOrochiTray.exe., do you have a Razer mouse?  If you do you should try updating the driver.

There's more, but let's see what this does for now.

Ok, I've uninstalled the VAIO Entertainment studio.

I do have a Razer mouse and have had constant problems with the software since I got it. The driver is up to date.

It's an Orochi (don't know any specifics beyond that)

Look in the Device manager (Start> right click on Computer> Manage> Device Manager.  Scroll down to Mice and other pointing devices and click on the diamond to expand the tree.  Your mouse should be listed there.

Argh!  Look on the bottom of the mouse to see the model number.

I figured it had to be hidden somewhere.

I tried to find a download for a driver for this mouse, but couldn't find anything for the Razer Orochi rzo1-0030.  Unless I'm mistaken, this mouse came with a disc to load the driver, do you still have it?  If you do I would suggest uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it from the disc.

Has uninstalling the VAIO Entertainment studio made the computer any more stable?

I'm a little disbelieving at this point, but my laptop hasn't crashed yet. Admittedly I haven't spent all that much time on it yet. I'll keep you posted though.

Either way, thank you so much for your help.

Never mind, it just crashed again. I had a torrent client open and downloading to see if I could get it to crash. This seems to be a common co-occurance.

edit: crashed 3 times in quick succession. The torrent client wasn't running on the last one.

Did you uninstall and reinstall the driver for the mouse as I suggested?

Please run the MiniToolBox again and post it.

Edit:  Are you aware that peer-to-peer sharing is a very quick way to get infected?  You should read the section on Risks in Wikipedia regarding peer-to-peer downloads.  Peer-to-peer file sharing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I would also suggest that you run regular scans with programs like SUPPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes.  Be sure to update these before running scans.
