Hello bwighttwo -

It seems that you already have Antivirus installed, and this is another question -

Can you list what your actual problem is, and why you posted it -

Thank You -

The question was in the topic. "Windows says AV needs to be turned on"  Sorry about the confusion.. I am not sure what I did but the problem is now gone. If it appears again I will let you know. If others have had this happen, what was the cause. Thanks

Hello -

Please download Security Check by Screen317 from Here
* Save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
Note: If a security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Is / was the "AV notice" given at startup or during normal running of a program of some kind ??

Thank You -

During normal running but no certain program. It was like that for a couple of days. I am trying to remember what all I had done. I am pretty sure I ran a few scans during the time it said that. I am going to see if I can find the scans. In the mean time here is the new scan you requested.

I do have a DDS and attach. Also a show hidden log if you would like to see them.

I hope my last post did not confuse you. I edited it. When I said I have the other logs I mean I ran them while windows was telling me that I needed to turn on AV.

Can you open your Bitdefender, and just check if there is any Updates available.

Is there a Firewall included with your Bitdefender Antivirus. If not turn Windows Firewall on. This may be the message -

I will check after I post this and see if your program includes a Firewall also -

I notice that you do not use Java (not listed), is this by choice ?? Please check in Control Panel > Programs and Features to see if it is listed.
If you wish, I can link how to install the latest version.

Thanks for posting that info -

Yes it up to date and has a firewall. I removed Java a few weeks ago when they had some problems. I have not needed it yet, so I have not put it back.
