Hello all,

Having some problems with windows 7 64bit, first an itunes driver broke and now since uninstalling all apple related software and trying to fix the problem I've discovered windows is refusing to let me update.  There is a red shield and whenever I check for updates it says the service is not running and I may need to restart my machine.

I've tried this and a few other quick fixes, but no luck so far.  Its probably really straight forward but I've no ideas.  Any help very welcome, thank you in advance

Sam

Hi narenxp

I have ran TDSSKiller but I am having trouble cutting and pasting the log as it is too long to post. What would you like me to do?  I shall continue with the other two steps and see if I can post them.

Also not sure if its relevant but when I am on the internet a pop up saying I am not running a genuine version of windows keeps coming up.  I know I am running a genuine version so this is also a problem.  Thank you for all your help so far, I thought the error was much more straight forward than this.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.  If you already have it installed launch the program and update the database.

  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet and double-click on the it to install the application.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings except to uncheck any offer for a free Pro trial version
  • Malwarebytes will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button and continue.
  • Under the Scanner tab, make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • When finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".

  • Make sure that everything is checked and then click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.

  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows the database version and your operating system.
  • Exit Malwarebytes when done.

Note: If Malwarebytes encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally will prevent Malwarebytes from removing all the malware.
