I recently upgraded my Windows Updates and updated IE and Mozilla.  They no longer work.  I can ping and verify I have internet connection.  Any advice?  Thanks in advance

Please explain what you mean by upgraded Windows updates, IE and Mozilla?

What specifically no longer works, and in what way do they not work?

Neither will connect to internet.  They behave as if I have no internet connectivity.

How are you connected to your ISP?  WIFI, Ethernet cable, dialup, etc.

And once again please explain what you mean by upgraded Windows updates, IE and Mozilla?

I usually keep Windows Updates turned OFF.  I updated all available windows updates and upgraded from IE 7 (IE 7 worked fine) to IE 8 and it no longer works.  Mozilla had not been working previously, but as I remember it stopped working after an update too.

Do you have Service Pack 2?

Have you tried rolling IE 8 back to 7?

Have you tried reinstalling Firefox, or installing Chrome to see if it works?

You need to install SP2.

Have you run any scans with your anti virus or any other security programs?

I ran a scan with malwarebytes and an online scan (cannot recall which one, but it was recommended by a person on this site that helped me with another computer clean up some viruses).  Plan was to upgrade windows updates and then dive deeper into any potential viruses.

I have windows vista.  I am able to connect to internet (verified with ping test).  However I am unable to use either IE or Firefox.  My browsers are not working.  Thoughts?  Thanks

Did your browsers ever work properly?

When did the change occur...what events occurred before you noted that there were problems?

Any error messages?

System manufacturer and model?

Louis

I upgraded iE and Mozilla, have not worked since.  Were working before.  I am running SP2.

Toshiba Satellite.

No error messages, other than the standard unable to connect screens you get with IE and Mozilla.
