Could you take a look at my logfiles some time and see if you recognize as bad and/or a contributing factor to other problems on the pc. thanks so much.

Below are some logfiles of a Compaq laptop/XP PRO SP2. Do you know of any other free sites like bleepingcomputer that you would recommend, so that I can expedite the process of locating a solution? I'd also like to make sure that other people suggest similar solutions. After doing an Ewido scan, Norton pops up with the following virus that apparently they can't fix:
C:\System Volume Information\_restore{77CD0FD2-F758-4EE2-AE8C-BD61828C1D28}\RP285\A0048122.exe

c:\system volume information\_restore[77cd0fd2-f758-4ee2-ae8c-bd61828c1d28]a0038415.exe

c:\system volume information\_restore[77cd0fd2-f758-4ee2-ae8c-bd61828c1d28]\rp279\a0038415.exe
I looked at the Norton virus history, and it has found a similar .exe virus every time for the past 15 scans. the last four digits are different on each one.

In a nutshell, the main concern from Ewido, I believe is: (The Ewido Logfile is after the hijackthis log)
[532] VM_00D90000 -> Downloader.Agent.uj : Error during cleaning

One site recommended that I do the following, but I thought I'd check with you and some other sites before I proceed with that fix.

hi

i am afraid ewido cannot clean this bugger

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto
O16 - DPF: {03F998B2-0E00-11D3-A498-00104B6EB52E} (MetaStreamCtl Class) - https://components.viewpoint.com/MTSInstall...l?noreloadredir

Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log.

Hi,

The forums are really busy, that explains why logs get behind. We start with the oldest logs first. If you still need some help, please start with posting a new hijackthislog in this thread. Don't start with a new thread.
Then I'll take a look.
