Hi - a couple of weeks ago - friend's computer - installed roboform and western digital external drive with apps. All fine and could be coincidental but always asking what changed. About 2 day after installs - computer after boot up very slow to impossible to open any programs or browsers. 14 microsoft updates were happening at same time and those stalled. Friend tried to run McAfee - bogged at 6% in and stopped on a jpg. Malwarebytes same thing. I got the computer now. I tried first a system restore. At first, gave me a list of dates, but failed on the attempts after reboot. Tried a microsoft repair. Could not repair and no specified whys. Uninstalled roboform. Could not uninstall western digital files. Could not uninstall McAfee or recent MS updates. Used ccleaner to safe reg and clean out garbage. Ran in safe mode sfc scannow. Ran malwarebytes in safe mode (won't run otherwise). Have backed up all my files and could go back to full factory but really don't want to do that. Suspect either rootkit or a few corrupted MS files. Windows 7 64bit.
