Hi All,

I tried to download AOL desktop 9.7 for Windows 8 and got the following message

roadie.exe - bad image

PROPSYS.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f

I contacted AOL and they say it is a virus. I can nor restore from a restore point, Windows defender will not update and various random programs do not start up.

Has anybody got any ideas what could be the problem?? I have spent all day searching the web and the only thing I found was some webpage claiming to be able to remove the roadie virus for a large fee?

Tired and frustrated but not as tired and frustrated as my daughter who needs to complete her homework on the infected PC.

Thanks for your help

File is from AOL and is not malicious.

Regarding the DLL error, click on startmenu and type

cmd

Right click on it and select run as administrator and run this command

sfc /scannow

After scan finishes, restart the PC and try to install

What is error code for windows defender?

Hi,

I forgot to mention that I had already run sfc and it didn't find anything wrong.

Defender just gives up. After a very long time it reports that the database can't be updated. Likewise when I tried to restore from a previous restore point it hangs for about an hour and then gives a failed to restore message.

Sorry
