Hi guys,

Im backing up a GPT file system external hard drive to a fat32 file system internal hard drive using Rsync -av. The contents contain Mac system backups, misc  graphics, and windows file system files. I'm getting the operation not permitted error from what i understand due to the fact that the files are password protected. Is there a way to enter login/pass info to rsync to allow the copying of these files?

The "goal" is to get the contents 100% off the external, convert the externals Filesystem however, some of the macintosh system files appear to be password? protected. Is there any way to get these files off as from what I understand the GPT file system is used in a version of mac that is based around unix (forgive my ignorance on macintosh O/S designations)

Anyways, I'll do a 100% re-do of this rsync if necessary, and I am also open to alternatives as well (i dont want to do a disc image because i dont want to carry the filesystem over with me) is cp a good alternative that will look beyond the permission of a file?

Many thanks

-DRW
