My mother's computer is having some issues with random blue screens. She says itll happen at random moments, never running the same programs, same safe time period, ect.

She found it today on a BSOD and dumping stopped at 100 and didn't restart. I personally have never had or heard of a computer not restarting after it screens. Below is a picture of the report of the screen.

What would be the best way to fix the BAD_POOL_HEADER issue?

I don't want to go and be completely in the loss when I go over and try to deal with it.

I also found these instructions to try and fix it, think it should do the job?

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
6. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

7. Restart your computer.

If you need additional info, ill try and help as much as I can, i havent even touched it yet myself.'

Thanks all!

Hello F C,

STOP 0x00000019: BAD_POOL_HEADER
Usual causesDevice driver

There is a device driver or other software possibly interfering with a driver. That is the probable cause of her BSODs.  To find the offending software, we will need to collect more information (minidump files, logs, etc). You will need access to her computer to gather the following information should you wish to pursue this:

1. )  Please follow this link:  BSOD Posting Instructions Windows 8 - Windows 7 - Vista.

  • Follow all instructions with the exception of:
    • Create a new thread HERE and attach the file(s) after step 4
  • Note: Both files, autoruns and JCGriff2 BSOD collection app, of Step 1 need to be in the Documents folder.

Next, Upload the zipped folder to a File Sharing website of your choosing because Bleeping Computer has a 512 K only upload limit and this file will be much larger.

2. )  To help us get a better look at your computer's hardware, please download and install Speccy by Piriform. (mirror site)

  • Run Speccy and from the top menu, select File --> Publish Snapshot.  Click "Yes" to proceed.
  • Click, Copy to Clipboard and  paste this address into your next post.

3. )  Please download MiniToolBox by Farbar, save it to your Desktop, then run it.

  • Check the following checkbox:
    • List Installed Programs
  • Then click Go.
    • Highlight the contents of  Result.txt.
    • Copy (Ctrl + C), then Paste (Ctrl + V)  the contents of this file into your next post.

Regards,
Brooks

Hello F C,

This appeared in a recent minidump:

TfFsMon.sys  -   PC Tools - ThreatFire Filesystem Monitor   -  Thu Jan 14 18:07:21 2010

1.)  My suggestion would be to uninstall PC Tools ThreatFire.  Sometimes it doesn't play well with other security software.

This appeared frequently in many of the minidumps:

Unable to load image \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\igdkmd64.sys, Win32 error 0n2
*** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for igdkmd64.sys
*** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for igdkmd64.sys

igdkmd64.sys - Intel Graphics Kernel Mode Driver  -  Fri Feb 11 14:16:32 2011

2.)  I recommend that you go to the computer manufacturer's website if it is a OEM or the motherboard manufacturer's site and look for updated drivers.
  • Specifically:
  • Chipset driver
  • Graphics driver
  • BIOS

3.) Please perform a Check Disk.

  • Check only: Automatically fix file system errors.

4.)  The Perfmon report recommends running Disk Defragmenter.

Let us know the results.
