Is there any way to change the default location of the highlighted file in Windows Explorer from "Start:Menu"?

In my younger years this was not a problem as it was my assumption that all kinds of time was available to me.  Hitting three score and ten (plus a little) has changed that view and all that time spent scrolling up to "Users" with every new opening of WE has become very precious.  If someone would give me fifty cents (well, maybe a buck) for the seconds of scrolling up I'd be able to retire by now.  :)  [BTW, if you belive that, I've got a little ocean front property in Nebraska I'd sell for a very reasonable price.]

  Just discovered this place.  Neat!!

If you want to open Windows Explorer to "Users" folder right click on WE, click "Properties".

On the Shortcut tab, in the Target field change the path so that it now reads: "c:\windows\EXPLORER.EXE /e, C:\Users\<YourName>" (quotes included)

Thank you for your time.  WE would not accept your suggested wording as a target.  Here is the current target:  %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe

Is it a message you're getting when you try to put my path in?

If so try:

"%SystemRoot%\EXPLORER.EXE /e, C:\Users\<YourName>" (quotes included)

KNEW the error message should have been included.  Here is the message:

The name '%SystemRoot%\EXPLORER.EXE/d,C:\Users\Del' specified in the Target box is not valid.  Make sure the path and file name are correct.

Removing the quotation marks let it accept the new target location.  Maybe a re-boot is in order to change the target?  I just opened WE and it went to "Start Menu" as usual but the new target words are there.

I was wrong about quotation marks. Sorry about it.

Make sure you preserve "spaces".

%SystemRoot%\EXPLORER.EXE /e, C:\Users\<YourName>

There is a "space" before "/e" and before "C:\Users....."

Also there is no "d" as you posted but "e".

The spaces were there and the "d" was my typo instead of the "e" that is there.

Here is the copy and paste of the entry:

%SystemRoot%\EXPLORER.EXE /e, C:\Users\Del

Is a re-boot in order?  It will happen anyway one of these first days.

Still goes to "Start Menu".  Let me re-phrase that.  Right clicking on "Start" and clicking on "Explore" gets me to the Start Menu.  Opening WE from the Start Menu itself, gets me to exactly where I want to be.  Thank you very much.

What exactly is a "Start Menu"?

Can you post some screenshot?

Sorry.  It's the "Start Menu: under "Windows", under "Microsoft", under "Roaming", under "App Data" under "Del" (as user).  Don't think all that will fit in a screen shot but a bit is attached.

I didn't see this:

Opening WE from the Start Menu itself, gets me to exactly where I want to be

All set then?
