Google chrome is my default browser. In the last couple of days it is taking exceptionally long to simply open google chrome (not to load an internet site, but just to open the program). Once opened, it runs slowly. Internet connection is fine. I switched to IE and the speed is much better on IE. I uninstalled and re-installed chrome without resolution. I tried to right click on the Chrome icon on the desktop to run an AVG scan on it but nothing happened. I also tried to do a windows update and it said it was unsuccessful in downloading an important update (windows live essentials 2011) because I had a previous build; however, I contacted Microsoft support and they suggested I uninstall windows live and re-install it, which I did. It was able to do the update but did not resolve the problem of slow chrome. I tried to shut down my computer and had to force it to shut down because "teatimer.exe" would not close. I have malwarebytes, AVG, and spybot as virus/malware protection. All are updated and run daily or multiple times a day, has not found anything malicious. I ran RKILL but it came back clean. I am not seeing any pop-ups or error messages. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. No significant changes have been done to my computer otherwise. Any thoughts?

Does this happen with a different browser?

Sorry guys, I'm not sure who's instructions to follow as this is my first time using this service. Could you please clarify who's advice I should be taking?

There is no "should" as to whose advice/suggestions that you follow...we leave that to the judgment of the poster.

But...if you look at the data reflected for a given member, you will see that some are BC Staff at one position or another.  These persons are earmarked for easy reference in all forum matters and they have been designated as Staff primarily because they have demonstrated willingness and reliability in their attempts to assist forum members.  They are not necessarily the "smartest" brains working here...but they have consistently shown the ability to help others.

If you really want to make a determination about a given member...just look at some of that member's attempts to assist other members and you can get a feel for the efforts, success, etc.

Or...just flip a coin...but that won't work when more than two persons respond :).

My issues only seem to occur on Chrome. IE runs fine.

Ok, here are the results from minitoolbox...
