Running...

Windows 7 Ultimate (Business) with service pack 1

32 bit OS

I posted about this on your forums not long ago and a helpful helper walked me through working on removing it.  We thought it was gone but it had left files that when I tried to delete apparently reinfected my system.  I originally suspected the Sophos tool but we were using the updated one so I don't think that was the problem.

It has created a new user now and continues to duplicate files.

I know that making the wrong move can make this worse so I'm not making a move until one of the experts review it. lol

THANKS,

Niki

After running this list I can not find the extra user it had created so I assume it took care of that.  The only thing I can find now is the programs folder is duplicated and each program is copied as a shortcut.  Can I simply delete this or is there another way to remove it?

I don't see any way to attach the logs on this forum...am I missing it?

You can only copy/paste logs here in AII

Please download Rkill by Grinler and save it to your desktop.Link 1
Link 2

  • Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
  • If using Vista, right-click on it and Run As Administrator.
  • A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • If it does not work, repeat the process and attempt to use one of the remaining links until the tool runs.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.

Do not reboot the computer, you will need to run the application again.

Please post the Minitoolbox log

Now I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan

  • Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
  • Click the   button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
  • Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
  • Click the Start button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
  • Click Advanced settings and select the following:
    • Scan potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth technology
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, click List Threats
  • Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Click the Back button.
  • Click the Finish button.

NOTE:Sometimes if ESET finds no infections it will not create a log.

Please download aswMBR ( 4.5MB ) to your desktop.

  • Double click the aswMBR.exe icon, and click Run.
  • When asked if you'd like to "download the latest Avast! virus definitions", click Yes.
  • Click the Scan button to start the scan.
  • On completion of the scan, click the  save log button, save it to your desktop, then copy and paste it in your next reply.

OK I take it back..before I could turn my computer off tonight the zzzzz file showed up again.

I know I am doing something to trigger it.

I deleted all of the files you told me to then I ran an update on my live protection (MSE) ran CCleaner and started a defrag.

I have not even opened any files so one of these has to be triggering the reinfection.

There are now two files in the C drive...the first is the one has a long numeric name and it holds all the ZZZZ files and the second 32788R22FWJFW has a lot of DAT files and an ie.exe.

I did do one other thing.  There is a folder labeled Application Data that when opened duplicated over and over.  I asked a friend and they advised me it was a shortcut and not a folder or file and to just re-hide the system files if it bothered me but wouldn't hurt anything.  Was he wrong and it is the worm?

Please visit the online Jotti Virus Scanner virus.gif<--link
  • Browse to the following filepath:

    ---------put the filepath here -------
  • Click on the Clipboard021.jpg button.
The scanner will check the file with various AV companies.

Sorry for the delay I am in the midwest and had power outages.  I will run the files on this link tonight but it is the actual folder that is duplicating.  I don't know if that makes a difference or not.  I will post the results after I get them.  thanks

OK there was a very strange disappearance of that file labeled zzzzz!  I have no idea what happened...all I can figure out is that windows did an auto update right after our power came back on and restarted.

This is a great website and very busy lol it took me awhile to get all the files scanned but all of them showed clean except for this one.

Filename: aswMBR.exe Status:
Scan finished. 1 out of 20 scanners reported malware.

Yes I scanned all the files in the fwjfw folder but the zzz folder is gone now.

The only one that showed infected was this aswMBR tool.
