if you already went to programs and features in the control panel - and 'view installed updates' and then removed ie9 and restarted - then I would use noknojons solution.

You know this is very strange.  I never saw Internet Explorer 9 in the updates list.  This is windows vista.  I did a restore point to before ie9 was on here and even tho when I am in Internet Explorer under help about it shows Internet Explorer 8.   I did run the fix after the restore, but for some odd reason it still says internet explorer 8 but when I go into Quickbooks, it says it is unsupported and is IE9.  I am now in the process of removing IE8 to see if that works, but the program does need IE8, so I am looking for a way to prevent ie9 from automatically installing and I need to install ie8 only.   Not sure any of this will work.  Any ideas?????

The following is an excerpt from the information at the site my link in post #4 takes you to.

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 9, the previously installed version of Internet Explorer will be available on your computer.  It is not necessary to reinstall.

Try this

Launch Internet explorer and go to

Tools > Compatibility View settings.

Select Display all websites in Compatibility View and then click Close.

Does that help?
