Hello All,

Windows 8 64-bit

I tried installing Jasc Paintshop Pro 9 (got it when I had a Windows XP) on my new laptop.  The software never fully installed.  It sat at the 100% mark for over an hour and never completed.  I had to leave, so I ended the task and closed up the laptop.  I came back and saw that it was at least in the start menu, so I tried to use it.  It runs in the background but never loads to be used.  I tried going into the Compatibility tab in Properties and changing the Combatibility mode to run as Windows XP (Service Pack 3), that did nothing.  I tried unistalling it using the Control Panel in Windows, but it didn't actually get rid of it.  It removed it from the Programs list is Control Panel, but it is still available everywhere else.  I also tried to just re-install it, but it said that a current install is in progress.  Obviously that's not the case, but it still says it even after a couple of reboots.

I'm not sure if just the install went bad or what, but now I can't get rid of it.  Can someone give me some insight on what might be the issue?  Can someone advise me on how to get rid of it?  Also, is there anyway to make it work once everything is squared away?

Thank you!

Try Revo...

Revo Uninstaller is more thorough in deleting programs on your computer than using the Add/Remove option in Windows.  Since it is a more powerful tool, please be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

Please note there is a chance when you look for this program to uninstall through Revo it might not be listed because of the previous uninstall.  If that is the case simply stop and let me know.

  • Please download and install Revo Uninstaller Free
  • Double click Revo Uninstaller to run it.
  • From the list of programs double click on the program you want to remove
  • When prompted if you want to uninstall click Yes.
  • Be sure the Moderate option is selected then click Next.
  • The program will run, If prompted again click Yes
  • When the built-in uninstaller is finished click on Next
  • Once the program has searched for leftovers click Next.
  • Check the items in bold only on the list then click Delete.  You may have to expand some folders by clicking the "+" mark.
  • When prompted click on Yes and then on Next.
  • Put a check on any folders that are found and select Delete
  • When prompted select Yes then Next
  • Once done click Finish.

You can restore your system to a date before the failed install. Here's how:

I know how to do a system restore.  I'm going to wait until Broni posts to see what he suggests I do.  Thank you though.

System restore sounds like a good idea in this case unless it goes too far back.

I did a system restore to the day before I tried installing Jasc Paintshop Pro 9.  It did remove the link to open the program, but the folder for it is still listed in the Program Files (x86) folder.

Are there additional steps I need to take to ensure that the program is completely removed?

Can I try to do another install now?

Thank you!

Can't you remove that folder manually?

Yes, but I didn't know if that was all that needed to be done.  I guess so.  I will try to install the program again.

Thank you for your assistance.
