I was away from my machine long enough for the screen saver to come on. When I moved my mouse, there was a yellow UAC alert on my desktop asking me if I wanted to run "GPU auto exe." Of course I clicked don't allow but saw a shortcut of the recycle bin on my desktop placed right next to the regular recycle bin. I checked inside the bin. Two unimportant files which were already there were unchanged. I disconnected from the internet. I had already changed my online paswords (using iPad) earlier that day when MBAM popped up saying it "blocked and quarantined a Trojan.backdoor.MRX" having to do with Splashtop (apple remote desktop) software updater. And a little bit later, I got a another MBAM pop up having to do with my HP printer software uninstall. CC cleaner made a reference to this when I subsequently ran its registry cleaner but my printer seems to be working fine, and my computer still seems zippy with no startup or shutdown problem. MBAM full scan shows clean. Spybot 2 cleans, congradulates me but shows still infected items upon rescan. When I click "fix selected items" again, the button grays out and all the previously selected items become unchecked. All of this stuff has happened without any input from me, and my browser was not being used. Oh, one more thing, I ran Rkill, and it fixed permissions to allow me to edit the host file, and there was a list of Internet addresses shown. Running Dr Web Cureit! and then Rkill again showed no issues with the Host File, but in the next scan the Host issue reappeared. There are more details but hopefully this is enough to get started with, and I thank everyone here in advance for your time and consideration.

narenxp:

I ran the 3 tests with no problems but I can't copy and paste the results. There's a popup saying my post is too long, shorten it and try again or something like that. Now the TDSSKiller log is 535 KB, the aswMBR is 2.05 KB. The ESET result is just a line of text warning of JAVA/EXPLOIT.CVE-2012-1723.DE.TROJAN. I've restarting my computer to try again to no effect. I think there's somethng wrong with my clipboard, and I've read somthing about a clipboard virus? Last week I tried to copy a screenshot from one of my folders to paste it on my desktop and I got a error message saying my clipboard is too big. Wow. Either way, thanks for your time and maybe we can figure this out.

Have a nice sleep.

Malwarebytes

--------------------

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.  If you already have it installed launch the program and update the database.

  • Important!! When you save the mbam-setup file, rename it to something random (such as 123abc.exe) before beginning the download.  You can also right click on the link and select Save Link As

Malwarebytes may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.

  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet and double-click on the renamed file to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to this Guide.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings except to uncheck any offer for a free Pro trial version
  • Malwarebytes will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button and continue.
  • If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
  • Under the Scanner tab, make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • When finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box, then click the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked and then click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows the database version and your operating system.
  • Exit Malwarebytes when done.

Note: If Malwarebytes encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally will prevent Malwarebytes from removing all the malware.

Finished the scans but once again I can't post. I get a message from Ms Word that I've. "...placed a large amount of text on the Clipboard. Do you want this text to be available to other applications after you quit Word?" I choose YES but there is no option to 'paste' when I right click in this box.
