my dell 1150 laptop was changed from xp to vista my dialup modem wont work

is there a driver that will work with vista for my modem?

Er.... what is the make an model of this modem?

 

A little history regarding your problem wouldn't hurt.

I agree with DC3 so just to help speed things up............. Hopefully.

 

There is probably (Should be) a label on the bottom of the laptop that gives the details of the modem. 

This page shows where the modem is and how to remove it if you can't get the information any other way.

FWIW:  If that's an Inspiron 1150...the Dell website lists only XP as supported O/Ses.

You need to download and install the vista compatible driver for your modem. All laptop driver should be obtained from the website of your laptop manufacturer. Go to the Dell Service website, enter your service tag number, and download and install ALL of the Vista comptible drivers (starting with the chipset driver). You can look in device manager for any yellow or red symbols - that will tell  you which drivers need to be installed.
