Hi I am having trouble with a Windows xp system.  The system starts up for a second with the Windows xp splash screen then the whole system crashed. I have tried safemode and still the same thing. I tried a repair and recovery console but neither see the windows installation. programs like checkdisk won't work as it says it can't determine the file system which I believe is the problem. The partition seems fine but the file system is coming up as Raw and not as NTFS.  I know I can try a recovery program but as there are tons of programs installed I want to try to figure out a way to get this system to boot.  I am trying testdisk but once I select the partition and the "p" to list files it states it can't read the file system.  Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried using the XP disc to repair the installation or to run a DOS like scan disk, which may repair the file system? Do a Google search on this and see what your options are doing something like this from the disc on boot.

repair will not work as I stated it will not list the windows installation. I have not tried a DOS check but will see what I can find.
