Took advantage of Microsoft special offer W8 Pro upgrade + free Media Centre for £25.

Decided to make a dual setup to see whether I would like the newer o/s so made a separate partition and installed W8.

I now have dual W7 and W8 bootup, and have now decided I much prefer W8 so wish to uninstall W7.

The problem is if I delete W7 It will remove the bootloader which will stop W8 from loading.

W7 is the primary partition which is active.

W8 is logical.

How can I uninstall W7 and retain W8 complete with bootloader ?

I could of course reinstall W8 from my backup disk but would lose my Media Centre not to mention all my work setting this up to my satisfaction.

Any ideas on how I can accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I note all the partition examples in your  tutorial are Primary.....do note that my W8 is on a Logical partition.

Have tried to convert to Primary using "EasyBCD" but is not possible.

On your above link is a warning....you must have Microsoft system reserved partition....this is on W7 I believe.

Have successfully solved my problem by doing the following.

You cannot convert a logical partition to Primary in W8 ...it MUST BE DONE  in W7....I used  EASEUS PARTITION  free software.

It is not possible to install the bootloader on to a W8 logical drive, but once converted it can be done using EASYBCD  free software.

Thanks to caperjac for his assistance.  Hope the link below can explain once W8 install converted to Primary Drive using EASYBCD
