Hi, I hope I am doing this right.  This is my first post and a dear friend suggested I come here for help.  For the last 2 days I have been trying to do a full virus scan with Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) and it gets hung up every time on Windows\System32\CodeIntegrity\driver.stl    It will do a quick scan just fine but that is it.  When it gets hung up on this file I try to cancel the scan and end up having to use the task manager to close out the program and then I have to reboot my computer to have MSE working in the taskbar.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, removing programs that were recently installed, I ran malwarebytes and that came up clean, I tried restoring to an earlier time and that didn't work, I tried safe mode and it did not work.  I have searched the internet and have not found an answer that has solved my problem.  I do not have a wireless mouse or wireless keyboard.  Some sites suggested that might be a problem.  I installed and tried Super Antispyware and that did not work properly so I uninstalled it.  I do not know what else to do.  I sure would feel better if I knew my antivirus program would do a full and complete scan.  It is always the same file that it gets stuck at.  I even tried putting that particular file in the excluded files within the MSE program and that didn't work either.  It just kept trying to scan it.  I have Windows 7 Home Premium with 64 bit operating system.  With having our Church records, our business files and then of course my personal files/pics it always makes me nervous when something isn't working properly.  Any suggestions would be most appreciated.  Thank you.

•Reset FF Proxy Settings
•List content of Hosts
•List IP configuration
•List last 10 Event Viewer log

This may give us a list of current Errors and incorrectly installed programs

Please follow it with this quick scan >

Download Security Check by Screen317 from HERE or HERE, and save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.
Note: If a security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Thank You -

The sites you mentioned screen 317 are blocked to me because they may contain malware or exploits so I have not done that.

Hi -

Please note that Screen317 Security check is 100% OK, and used every day here. I have it on 3 computers of mine.

Please allow it to run (the digital signature is often outdated, so it shows as "unknown").

My version of MSE allows it to run whenever I wish - You have Hosts content problems that we can also fix -

Never seen a link to Panda Cloud show up, so please ignore it. This may be another problem if you show the details.

Please finish ToolBox with adding only Installed Programs and Problem Devices -

Thank You -

When I ran toolbox to show installed programs and problem devices the screen came up blank.  It doesn't list anything.

When I click on the screen317 it goes to http://download.cloudantivirus.com/eng/malicious/?id=blekkotb_005&url=screen317.spywareinfoforum.org/securitycheck.exe  the only thing on the page to download is panda cloud antivirus.  If I check on the box that says I understand that visiting this page could infect my computer and click continue I get an error page.  Is the screen317 file something small enough that could be emailed.  I honestly don't see where or how to download that.

I ran the fixit from microsoft, had to reboot and forgot I had the chkdsk scheduled to run.  I disabled realtime on MSE.  I finally got the screen317 downloaded and ran it but it flashed on and then disappeared.  It seems I am having problems running some of these programs.  I am now panicking and wondering how well my backups have been working on the portable harddrive.  Please tell me this mess is fixable because right now it only seems like it is worse.  Everytime you have me try to run something it doesn't seem to work right.  That can't be good.  If these programs won't run how will I fix the problem.

Can you try reinstalling MSE? Do you get redirections on websites you visit?

I have tried reinstalling MSE and it did not fix the problem.  When I finally got the screen317 security check downloaded and ran it did not give me a chance to see the log file, it flashed on and then flashed off.  I am on my hubbys laptop waiting for the chkdsk to get done on my computer.  When that is done what should I do next?  Should I try the security check again or the minitoolbox to see if they will run after this chkdsk?  I have been trying to fix this problem for 2 days and apparently I have more problems then I realized with my computer.  Thank you so much for taking up your time trying to help me.  I really appreciate it.

Hi -

First we will try to clean up the unwanted junk (trash) from your system. This will not remove real programs -

Remove temporary and junk files
To clean out your temporary internet files and temp files.
Download TFC by OldTimer from HERE to your desktop.

Double-click TFC.exe to run it.

Note: If you are running on Vista / Windows7, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator

TFC will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
* Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process.
* Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two.
* Please let TFC run uninterrupted until it is finished.Once TFC is finished it should restart your computer.

If it does not, please manually restart the computer yourself to ensure a complete cleaning.

Thanks -

EDIT - Take your time, as the chkdsk will take over 1 hour to run (coffee time)
