I've tried what feels like everything and cann't resolve this problem on my own. Please help.

When I try to have media player 10 (windows) access and update media information from the web nothing is accomplished. I also cannot access microsofts page inside the media player.

I am very open to suggestions. Thanks
Profstolte

Hi there,

Here is some troubleshooting info from Microsoft.com:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...er/faq.aspx#8_0

Make sure that your firewall is configured to allow WMP access to the web, as well as double checking your connection settings under Options.

Been here already, answer wasn't in there.

It was in my firewall and not my tools. I have an NForce chipset and the security came out as year after I bought it. My bad for not digging a little harder.
I must say the NForce control and firewall is impresive, at least as good as tea timer, and has a whole lot more.

I resovled the problem in my nvida firewall (in the task manager bar {right side}) - then open the firewall summary - view profile (this opens an explorer page)- under metwork access manager - under firewall - advanced configuration - under applications

I enabled these:

wmplayer.exe c:\program files\windows media player\wmplayer.exe 10.00.00.3646 Windows Media Player Microsoft Corporation

setup_wm.exe c:\program files\windows media player\setup_wm.exe 10.00.00.3646 Microsoft Windows Media Configuration Utility Microsoft Corporation

setup_wm.exe c:\documents and settings\dav\local settings\temp\setup_wm.exe 10.00.00.3646 Microsoft Windows Media Configuration Utility Microsoft Corporation

then bam! it worked in seconds flat, except teh microsoft web site icon.
I really dodn't mind if that icon doesn't work, just that media info updates.

Super thanks you nailed it.

Once again BC Rules and its people Rock!

Sincerely,
Profstolte
