Hello All,

I recently switched my DVD drive out as the last one quit working. Once I installed this new drive, it will open and close fine and make the noise like it is trying to read the cd, but the drive (D:) will not show up in my computer and also under device manager, there isn't a CD/DVD option.

What could cause this, a bad driver? loose cables? Could the bios need updated to include the new drive?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would check the data cable, if the tray opens and closes obviously the power cable is connected and working.

What is the make and model of this computer?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
