Hello!

(if this is posted in the wrong place, please forgive me.)

I am not sure what happened. I don't know if it's a virus or not.
It was running fine but now everything is slower.
I watch a movie almost every but now cannot because image and sound are jerky.
And every click of the mouse, especially internet browsing, seems to take seconds when before it was instant.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium.
I ran Malwarebytes and have tried shutting down and restarting computer many times but it's still slow.

If you can help solve this I would be so very grateful!

Thanks!

At first glance you have a hdd with a total capacity of 112 GB with 1.025 GB of free space.

You have less than ten percent of free space, you need more free space for swap space. This will most certainly slow your computer.

I would suggest defragmenting your hdd and do the disk cleanup.

I would also suggest either deleting files and programs which you don't need, or add an external hdd to transfer your data to.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Thanks for the reply.

Would using Farmville have slowed things down?

Because I am always running with low free space and it has never been a problem.

I do not know exactly how low but pretty darn low.

Yesterday when this problem started, it played a movie in the morning just fine.
Then Farmville was played. Then slow down.

Could Farmville have added too much to an Image Cache or somehow otherwise affected things?

Hello,

C: is FIXED (NTFS) - 112 GiB total, 1.025 GiB free.

As dc3 pointed out, you have almost no free space on your system drive; only 1% free space.

  • For the sake of general drive function, let alone performance, your first priority should be to free up between 15-20% more drive space by offloading larger files to other media.
  • If your system drive is an SSD drive, I would then check the manufacturer's website to see if there was a firmware update.
  • Don't run a disk defragmenter program if the drive is an SSD.

Regards,
Brooks

Funny thing. It was the power adapter.

Due to it dieing, I had to switch to a different one that came with a different laptop.

Apparently the different adapter had a negative effect on performance.

I had no idea until I replaced it this evening. I thought it was an internal problem.

As far as freeing up more space, I will do what I can!

Thank you so much for doing this to help folks! I know I truly appreciate it!!

Hi -
Just as a side note, you have 2 Antivirus programs running, please fully remove one ot these listed below -
Webroot SecureAnywhere and Microsoft Security Essentials

This will kill an already overloaded system .................
