Sooooo....i was downloading things i shouldnt have, fast forward a couple days and my system mechanic stops performing and the computer slows waaaayyyy down. Surfing the web and activex failure appears, followed by several more errors and a frozen computer. I do a hard restart, run system mechanic and it calls me clean....only it slows way down again. Now i run malwarebytes full scan and it finds 3 bad files, but then freezes completely again. Hard restart...start in safe mode, run malwarebytes quick scan and kill 2 bad files. Restart in normal only to freeze up again. I give up, reset to factory defaults from safe mode and it freezes on the final step...so i alt f10 after a hard restart and re initiate factory restore. This one makes it through, but things are still slowish. I go to remove Norton and re download system mechanic....Norton gets uninstalled and has me restart, restart happens and BAM computer freezes again. Sooooo, i am now on the final phase of a new factory restart and decided i need help attacking whatever nasty beast is surviving this. I do not have windows re-install discs. My computer is a gateway NV57H77u running windows7. I appreciate any help.

So long as you have the original key located on the side of your machine you can use this site to get a legal copy of win 7.

Formatting the machine should fix the issue. :thumbup2:
