laptop keyboard

My space bar on my Toshiba Satellite A665 doesn't always work. Many times when I hit the space bar it doesn't space. Everything else works perfectly. How do I check to see if it is gunk or, the contact? If it is the contact can I fix it myself? Thanks.

you can clean it with can of air or compress air see if that will help first
