DVD-ROM stopped working after re-installation of computer

My computer originally was able to play DVD's and DVD-ROMS, but after I had to re-install the computer after a registry cleaner disaster, I haven't been able to play DVD's/DVD-ROMS ever since. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?
