I managed to infect my computer with a MoneyPak ransomware virus about a month ago. I used ComboFix and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware to clean the system up. Everything is working as it was prior to the infection with one exception: I can no longer host any servers. Incoming requests seem to just get ignored. I just don't understand. I've tried a number of things including resetting the IP stack uninstalling my virus protection.

I can access the servers I host when I use the local IP (and 127.0.0.1), but other computers on the network cannot access them. I don't get a tracert response from the computer either. I've used Wireshark to try to capture the requests, and I do see them come in on the adapter, but that's it. No ACK. I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable can help me figure this out.

Thanks,
Jere

your event log is showing driver errors for your LAN and wireless adapter. if you have your service tag you can download the correct drivers from Dell If you have Intel adapters you can download the updated drivers from Intell's Download centeror i can look up the drivers. i would also try a tcp/ip stack reset you can use Microsoft Fix It 50199 or go to the command prompt in the start menu and hold down the ctrl and shift keys and press enter (this runs the program in administrator mode) copy and paste this command
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
press enter. Reboot the computer and test the connection. What game server are you trying to host?

Thank you for your response. I've re-installed the latest network drivers and have reset the stack trace. The problem persists. The game server I am trying to host is MapTools, but I am (and was) hosting a small web server too on port 8000. The web server responds when I access it directly (local IP and loopback ip) but does not respond when I try to access it from any other LAN computers or from the Internet (router configured correctly).

I just don't know what could have happened. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

No. I tried enabling it to see if it would make a difference, but it didn't. It is disabled currently (and that's how I like it).
