Hello! I'd like to start off by saying I have very little knowledge about computers so sorry if I don't give enough information or anything regarding my actual problem.

Anyway, off to my situation.

Pretty much what the title says. Every hour (give or take its not exact but about an hour) my computer puts out the last sound that was playing from my computer and repeats
itself over and over quite rapidly until it turns into a blue screen. Once blue screened I shut it off and it goes back to normal except for the screen popping up saying
"your computer blue screened, do you want to safe mode, ect.) To give a little background info here, it is a fresh install of windows 7 that I did because prior my pc was
having other issues so I wanted to reinstall. I'm not sure what exactly is the problem nor how I'd fix it.

Thanks in advance for any advice or ideas around stopping this annoyance.

What kind of problems were you having which led to your reinstalling the operating system?

Please download BlueScreenView
No installation required.
Double click on BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.
When scanning is done, go Edit>Select All.
Go File>Save Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt.
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

Hi Hectom,

As a general rule I don't address topics posted in our forums in personal messages. Members who post topics in these forums are looking for help, but we also have members who wish to participate by adding suggestions or members who are just trying to learn more about computers. By addressing your topic through PMs it would deprive others from being involved in the topic. For this reason I am posting your PM here so this can be continued in the proper location.:thumbup2:

Hello sir! Thank you for the reply to my thread but it seems as though I am having issues with the easiest of directions in the world. Upon downloading BlueScreenView, and running the program, once I click it its just empty and it seems as though I can't find out how to run it. Must I let the blue screen happen or what? Sorry for my complete lack of knowledge toward computers and programs in general. Hopefully you can respond back and help me with running it. And as far as what was happening leading up to the reinstall. It's very weird to explain but the screen sometimes would fill up with "snow" like when you are on a channel you don't have on a local television. And other graphic relating issues along with it being slow and other things like that. Once reinstalling it never has the problems but this new problem popped up right as the fresh install happened. Now I have this problem. Anyway, thanks in advance.

I would like to go back and discuss the white screen proble, but first please post the make and model of this computer.

Have you been doing a hard shut down (turning off the computer by pressing the power button) when the BSOD occurs?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

If you mean system manufacturer and model than it is Gigabyte Tech Co., Ltd. and Z68XP-UD3. (computer was made by a friend)

And yes, whenever the BSOD occurs I would hard shut down.

In a normal shut down all active applications will be closed before the computer shuts down. When a hard shut down is performed applications which are running are forced to close which can result in damaged files. I would suggest running sfc /scannow (System File Checker).

The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted and incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

Go to Start, click on All Programs, click on Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, click on Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

A page similar to the one below will open.

Posted Image

Type sfc /scannow and then press ENTER:

This scan consists of five parts and will take a while to run. You will need to be patient and allow it to complete. Stopping it while it is still running can damage your operating system.

This is not intended to remedy all of your problems, but it would be a good start in eliminating other potential problems.

Hello,

After following dc3's recent instructions to run system file checker, it would be helpful to have more information about the problem computer.

1. ) To help us get a better look at your computer's hardware since your computer is home made, please download and install Speccy by Piriform. (mirror site)
  • Run Speccy and from the top menu, select File --> Publish Snapshot. Click "Yes" to proceed.
  • Click, Copy to Clipboard and paste this address into your next post.

2. ) Please download MiniToolBox by farbar, save it to your Desktop, then run it.

Check the following checkboxes:
  • List content of Hosts
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices
    • Only Problems
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
  • List Minidump Files
  • List Restore Points
Please click Go.
  • Post the result (Result.txt) by clicking Edit from top menu -> Select all, then Edit -> Copy.
  • Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post.

Regards,
Brooks

After following dc3's recent instructions to run system file checker, it would be helpful to have more information about the problem computer.

The reason it has been suggested that the sfc /scannow first it that if files are repaired or replaced it will make a difference in how the computer runs. If you run scans before making running sfc /scannow we will not know if damaged files are contributing to your problem. This will not make an appreciable difference in the Speccy report, but could skew the results of the Mini Tool.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Hello,

I see several major issues here. They should be corrected in the order presented.

Important: If you don't feel comfortable performing any of the following corrective actions, you should consult a more knowledgable source before continuing; especially with Step #2.

1. ) Your computer has many devices that are not installed. You need to go to your motherboard site (Gigabyte - downloads).
Under Option 1. Search by Product Category , type:
    • Motherboard
    • By socket: 1155
    • By chipset: Z68
    • Model name: GA-Z68XP-UD3
  • Click Search
  • You will see two models (rev 1.0 and rev 1.3). As far as I can tell, they both use the same drivers.
Click Driver -> Support and Downloads -> Choose your OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • Please download and install (in this order):
  • Both files under Chipset.
  • Intel® Rapid Storage Technology
  • Marvell SATA Controller Driver
  • Etron USB 3.0 Driver

2. ) There is a 12/04/2012 firmware update for your Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD). I suggest that you update.
  • Note that there are two types of M4 drives.
  • Identify your drive correctly and heed the firmware update warning.
3. ) Your hosts file is empty. Recent virus infection? Replace the file by running this MS Fixit.

4. ) You are running Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit without any additional updates, including Service Pack 1 (SP1).
  • Make sure to go to Windows Update and install all updates.
    • Start (orb) -> All Programs -> Windows Update -> Check for Updates.
  • You will have to do this repeatedly with reboots in between until SP1 and all post SP1 updates have been installed.
After all four steps have been successfully completed, please run MiniToolBox as before and post the results.

Regards,
Brooks

Hi,

One more Device requires drivers. Please go back to the Gigabyte site and download and install the following:
  • Realtek LAN Driver
  • You could also update Realtek Audio as well if you haven't already
Next, downolad all Windows Updates, including SP1, and all post SP1 updates. This could take a day or more.

When the above has been completed, please let us know how your computer is running.

Regards,
Brooks

Everything completed above and it seems as far as I can tell nothing has changed, after about an hour it buzzes and blue screens. Runs about the same.

Hectom,

1. ) Have you performed the firmware update for your SSD hard drive?

2. ) Please post a new MiniToolBox and Speccy Snapshot as per my post #6.

3. ) I would also like to check the recovery and page file settings on your computer.

Regards,
Brooks

Hectom,

Have you performed the firmware update for your SSD hard drive?

You say that the computer is blue screening; however, no minidump files are created. It does appear that your settings are correct and should produce the minidump files. If you have been regularly running any temp file cleaners, stop as they frequently delete minidump files by default.

1. ) Please navigate to : C\Windows directory and tell us if there is a Memory. dmp file present. If there is, right mouse click on the file, select Properties and let us know the dated Created.

2. ) All but one of your recent system error reports were caused by AVG Anti-virus 2013.
  • Suggestion: Uninstall AVG via Control Panel -> (View as: Large Icons) Programs and Features.
  • If you experience any difficulty removing AVG, then use the Uninstall Tool.

Regards,
Brooks
