How to delete contacts out your phone completely

I have a iPhone 4S every time I delete a contact it says it's deleted but when I go messages people I have deleted they still come up does any one no ow to delete contacts fully off your phone

So you delete a contact in your Contacts app that you currently have an open conversation with and it still shows their name?

No no conversation I delete it at the contacts but wen I go in to messages and type in a name it still coming up even thou iv deleted it in contacts

you can download the spring apps..it will brings up your full list of contacts and select you want to delete..easy steps!.. btw that apps is free.. ;)

I would suggest completely powering off and restarting your phone as Grinler has suggested. If this does not solve the problem, perhaps it is an iCloud issue? I have had many people come in with issues involving iCloud doing some pretty wacky stuff. If you have iCloud, I would suggest looking into that further, it may be the problem.
