Hey guys, for some reason my netbook isn't able to connect to the internet. It will say that I'm connected but every time I try to surf the web, I'm not able to. I get the typical "page not found" or " server not found" message. I have an Asus EePC with an Intel Atom processor. The operating system, is Windows XP Home Edition service pack 3. I was just wondering if anyone had any sort of insight they could impart me with that would help with this sort of information. Not sure if the information I provided was sufficient or even relevant but it's a start at least. Any sort of help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, guys.

Try powering off router devices for a couple of minutes and your computer. Can you connect by wired? Do you see a full bar connection on wifi?

I tried powering off the route and the computer but saw no improvement unfortunately. I cannot connect by wired. The icons I see are the little computer with the green waves as well as the one next to it of two computes with an "X" between them. I honestly think something might be loose in the computer. Maybe a driver isn't installed properly or something. Then again, I already checked that and had no success. When I hover the mouse over the little computer it says that I'm connected and at a very good rate too. Would you happen to have any more suggestions?

Please post the complete Asus model next time. Check the cable running on ethernet port of your laptop if its properly seated. Were you able to connect before on both wired or wireless of the same network? Check your device manager - network adapter, are there any flags or marks on your ethernet and wireless adapter? You may need to download these on a working computer and transfer the logs on a flashdrive.
Download MiniToolBox and select all options.
A notepad will open then copy-paste the report on your next reply. Please connect first by wired then run MiniToolbox.

The model of Asus I am running the the Eee PC 1005HA. I believe the wire was connected properly. As far as the flags go though, I don't see any. This is actually my girlfriend's computer and I'm just trying to get it up and running for her. She has said that she was able to connect to her home network with no problem until one day it just stopped working suddenly. She also described the same problem that I had where it will say it's connected but you won't be able to access any webpages. Here are the results for the minitoolbox log. My apologies for the delayed response by the way.

How to backup and restore the registry in Win XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756
Hit Start - Run - type regedit - Enter.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root
Right-Click Root and select Permissions
Under Security type while Everyone is selected put a check mark in the box under Allow next to Full Control.
Click Apply and OK.
Download XP.zip from http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/files/download/9-registry-network-keys/%3Cbr%3EUnzip
Extract or Unzip the file and a new folder will open.
Locate and double click ipsec then follow the prompt.
Restart and check your Internet Connection.

Unfortunately I'm still not able to connect to the internet. It says that I'm connected but when I try to surf the web I'm not able to. I appreciate your patience, friend. Any more suggestions?

It seems as though whatever you just did worked! My good friend, I cannot begin to express how grateful I am. I would like to commend as well as thank you for all of the time, effort and mental power you exhausted during this lengthy and I'm sure daunting process. :]
