I have a Gateway laptop. about a year and half old.
The screen was slammed shut on it and ever since then I can't start it.

I have tried to start it in safe mode.
I have tried pressing "R" over and over (for recovery)

I can't run a diagnostic to see whats going on with it.
But I'm assuming its the hard drive.

I just want to be sure before I buy a new one and install it,
any advice? or should I just take it to a tech place?

-- Trying to fix it for my DJ boyfriend.
we have an anniversary coming up in a month exactly. and I want to have this done for him :]

What happens when you press the power button?

Does the fan run?

Any lights come on?

Any beeps?

Have you tried connecting it to an external monitor?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
