When I go to open my version 18 of SPSS Statistics, I see the usual quick flash of the SPSS logo (like it's going to start up) and then about a minute later it gives me an error saying "Attempt to connect to a remote server failed inet:Local Computer:0" and SPSS will not open. A Java box then opens titled "Server Login: Local Computer". I also sometimes get an error "spssengine has stopped working... A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

This happened to me once a few months ago after a system update and I did a system restore and all was fine. Of course, I went on Christmas break, another update likely occurred, and now it won't open and it's too late to restore it back to the point I did initially. I'm thinking it has something to do with Java, but I'm not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
