Hi guys, just upgraded from XP to Windows 8. New network card fitted as old one wasn't compatible with 8. All is working ok, but after a Windows update this message Appeared. "ADM851X USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter. no compatable windows driver found". Said to contact HP for a compatible update. Only trouble is there is no update for my old pc. HP Pavilion (model)m7210uk. (Product)EJ170AA-ABU. (Serial#)CZB54308M3.

I sometimes believe in, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

All is working fine.
The other thing I noticed, I have a WindowsXP Recovery drive still up and running. Is there any way to make a Windows 8 Recovery drive instead?
Look forward to your answers and.......A Happy New Year to you all, especially you tech guys out there who's advice I couldn't do without at times. :clapping:

Is the ADM851X USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter the one that came with your computer and is not compatible with windows 8? If so, since you are not using, just disable it in the bios if possible and you will no longer see those messages.

Hi Grinler, no the network card is a new install so i could get on the internet fitted by a pc tech friend. The old one, windows 8 didn't recognise it, so i had to have it replaced. Just done some Windows updates for .Net and now the Action Center on the pc says all issues fixed, so i guess the updates have sorted the problem out...hopefully.
Thanks for the reply anyway. I'm sure I'll be back for more advice or problem solving in the future till I work out how Windows 8 operates. So used to WinXP, Win8 is a nightmare finding my way around it at the moment. :thumbup2:
