Winxp Pro Download Problem Help Please

Ok i reformatted my computer and now anything i download on it will not install it always says that the dowloaded file is corrupted. I can download things on another computer and transfer them over and they work fine. I'm running windows xp pro with servicepack 2, an abit fatality with amd 64 x2 3800 nvidia 6600gt and 1gig of kingston, with a seagate 160gb hd. Any one know what the problem

You may have a bad stick of memory. Run a memory test.

Is the computer exhibiting any other anomaly or is that the only problem?
