I'm having problems using my computer, several times the "blue screen of death" popped up and I was unable to do anything. It said:
"The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SAM"
I recovered my computer to a system restore point, and everything seems to be running OK except very slow and my search queries in Firefox redirect to "search.ibryte.com" which is then blocked by my antivirus (eset NOD32). I also cannot connect to my wireless network, it says the operation was cancelled each time I try. Any help would be massively appreciated.

So here are the logs, I disabled my antivirus because I thought it might interfere with it:

Open the Tool Menu > Add-ons is there a reference to .ibryte.com ?
Remove it if found.

If not what other add-ons are installed on this computer?

No, nothing referencing ibryte

Extensions are:
Adblock Plus
Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1 (which is currently disabled because it's incompatible with Firefox 15.0.1)

Plugins are:
Adobe Acrobat
Google Earth Plugin
Google Update
iTunes Application Detector
Quicktime Plugin
Shockwave Flash
Windows Presentation Foundation

Are the redirects on all browsers or just Firefox?

Click the Start button, in the search box type

ibryte

Any reference to a file found?

Seems to be only firefox

Search returns the two Adw Cleaner logs from above, and:

InfraRecorder_Setup.exe in the 'Downloads' folder, when I searched this eset nod32 warned me it was a variant of Win32/Adware.iBryte.A application and quarantined it

And then an advanced search; searching hidden, system files and non-indexed files found this:

iBryte_Playbryte XML document in C\Users\Gwen\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\amlr54r9.default

Lets check the registry.

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2

If your operating system is 64 bit download this tool:
SystemLook_x64.exe
  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Copy and paste the content of the following bold text into the main textfield:

    :regfind
    iBryte_Playbryte

  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

Strangely, the search problem seems to be fixed in Firefox!! I did the scan anyway:

If all is well we will not fix it.

Time for some housekeeping

The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold text into the Run box and click OK:

ComboFix /Uninstall
===

To remove AdwCleaner.

Please double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Uninstall.
Confirm with Yes.

If you decide to keep the AdwCleaner tool make sure delete your version and download the latest before running it.

Delete the other tools we used.
You can Keep the DDS tool as most forum will ask to see a log before suggesting a fix.
