Hi canadiansmitty,

Welcome to bleepingcomputer.com!

And thanks to Koan and D-Trojanator for their input and help to this point.

Let's get rid of this "stuff" :flowers:

Run hijackthis again and click the None of the Above, just start the program button, then click the Scan button. Check the boxes next to the entries listed below. Then close all windows except HijackThis.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Mats] "C:\DOCUME~1\Steve\APPLIC~1\SMBOLS~1\services.exe" -vt mt
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Runev] C:\Program Files\Common Files\?dobe\n?lookup.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winmqx32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winmqx32.dll

Click on the Fix checked button, then click Ok to the next confirmation message.

Configure your computer to show hidden files. We'll need this for later.

Next, go HERE to run the Trend Micro™ HouseCall Scan.
[*]Click Scan now. It's free!
[*]Read and put a Check next to Yes I accept the terms of use.
[*]Click the Launching HouseCall>> button.
[*]Under Using Java-based HouseCall kernel click the Starting HouseCall>> button.
[*]You may receive a Security Warning about the TrendMicro Java applet, click YES.
[*]Under Scan complete computer for malware, grayware, and vulnerabilities click the Next>> button.
[*]Please be patient while it installs, updates, and scans your system.
[*]Once the scan is complete, it will take you to the summary page.
[*]Under Cleanup options, choose clean all detected infections automatically.
[*]Click the Clean now>> button.
[*]If anything was found you may be prompted to run the scan again, you can just close the browser window.[/list]
Copy everything inside the quote box below (starting with if) and paste it into Notepad. Go up to "File > Save As" and click the drop-down box to change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as findfile.bat on your Desktop.

if exist files.txt del files.txt
if exist files1.txt del files1.txt
if exist files2.txt del files2.txt
dir "C:\Documents and Settings\steve\application data\SMBOLS*" /s /a h > files.txt
dir "C:\Program Files\Common Files" /a h r > files1.txt
type files.txt + files1.txt > files2.txt
notepad files2.txt
exit

Locate findfile.bat on your Desktop and double-click on it. A Notepad window will open up with a report in it. Copy the contents of that report and paste it here along with a new HiJackThis log.
