ive had my laptop for a few years now, and until now ive never had any problems. yesterday my laptop was about to die since it wasnt plugged in, so to avoid losing everything on my laptop at the time, i put it in sleep mode. when i went to turn it on, the lights lit up like it working, the startup sound played, but the screen was black. im currently using my laptop connected to a monitor, so everything else works. i seemed to have no problems when i started the computer, just no screen. i tried taking out the battery and unplugging the laptop, then holding the power button for a minute. i also tried to do the same thing without holding the power button. i was told that the problem might be a broken or loose cable in the screen, and im currently waiting for my step-dad to look at it, but no conformation yet. any ideas?

is it currently connected to the monitor and working but you have no screen without the monitor

Is the brightness all the way up also

It is likely that you have a malfunctioning back light

It also can be a toggle switch

Some laptops keyboard can have a toggle switch to switch between the monitor and the LCD assembly Its Function key + F5 or blue sign that has to monitors logo.
