I have a 4 yr old HP Pavilion dv7-1133cl laptop that has been funtionning just fine until today. I was using it this afternoon when the screen faded to black for no apparent reason. At the time this happened, the power cord was plugged in, so it was not relying on battery power. The laptop appeared to still be booted because the power lights & volume lights would display when pressed. I disconnected the power supply, removed the battery, held the power button for 1 min, reconnected the power cord & pressed the power button but nothing happened. No lights are displaying at all but when I reconnect the battery & press the power button the lights on bottom left corner of base blink but I still have a black screen.
I do not have an extra monitor or external monitor that I can test with. I googled this issue and there seem to be a lot of different theories on how to fix this...including several sites that suggest "baking" the laptop in a 375 degree oven, which seems crazy to me.
Anyone here have any suggestions??

If you hold a flashlight up to the screen can you see the desktop or any text?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.
