I just a got virus (dept. of justice moneypak virus). I have unplugged from the internet and tried to reboot to any of the safe modes but the computer will only boot in normal mode.I tried windowsunlocker and I am currently running a resuce disc to see if that works. If I can get to a place where I can run malwarebytes, hitman pro or any malware program I'm sure I can get rid of it or If I can get to a previous restore point then I can use my antivirus software. Can anyone help me get to one of these places? I am running xp pro on an older desktop computer? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi, welcome to BC.

This type of infection is often times not alone on your pc. It may take some know how to get rid of all of the malware on your pc.

If you really want to try to get rid of this infection on your own I would suggest the Kaspersky Rescue Disk.

If you would like expert help from someone trained in removal of these types of things, in case you are not sure you want to try it, you can go with the following. Either way best of luck!

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at Step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues, what you have done to resolve them, and a link to this topic.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient.

If HelpBot replies to your topic, PLEASE follow Step One so it will report your topic to the team members.
