I have started it in "Safe Mode" (and it is in that state now) and ran "Kaspersky Quick scan" NO threats were found?

Before starting in "Safe Mode" I started it (5) times with the "Windows has encountered.... ETC" Blue start-up page with White Writing" and then ran the Start up Repair Page' and this is the result. See Attachment(01)... your site won't let me add the 2 attachment? Error You are not permitted to upload this kind of File??

So I hope all that will get the ball rolling I have not got internet on the Acer I have connected an Ethernet cable to the Acer Aspire's DSL connection, but was hesitant to "Plug" it into a Vacant Lan Port (3 spare)of my PC's "wireless Router Modem" before checking with you first? Would that be the way to go?? or will his "Wireless network card" sniff out my Wireless Network Signal by itself? Thanks for any help you can pass our way guy's. Cheers for now Dazza :busy:

1) Download BlueScreenView:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html
unzip downloaded file and double click on BlueScreenView.exe to run the program.
when scanning is done, go to EDIT - Select All
Go to FILE - SAVE Selected Items, and save the report as BSOD.txt
Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all of the content, and paste it into your next reply

2) You said you ran a Kaspersky "quick scan". Please run FULL system scans with BOTH Kaspersky and with MalwareBytes

Thanks Allan :thumbup2: , I am running a Full Scan of Kaspersky, But the Kaspersky Data bases are obsolete as the "Acer" Computer" has been down for 2 months. :busy:

I am doing all of this on my own "Dell PC" not the "Acer Computer" as the "Acer" will only run in "Safe Mode"

I Cannot Run MWMBs as the "Acer" does not have it installed nor can I install it or download "Blue Screen-View" on the "Acer" as the "Acer: computer will only run in "Safe Mode" and I cannot connect it to the Net in Safe Mode. will get back with the results of the Kaspersky scan later today.

Is it Okay to plug an Ethernet cable from the "Acer" internet connection into a Vacant LAN port on my Wireless Router Modem ?

Hi Allen I have completed the Kaspersky full scan on the "Acer Computer"as you asked and here is the result I have typed up on my DELL PC:

Full Scan
Completed 4 hours ago
Scanned 229.845 files
Threats: none

I have to wait until you can advise me about the the other stuff I described in my reply to you (above) before this one re the blues-creen download and running MWBs on the "Acer Computer"
Also the erthenet cable to my PC's Wireless Router Modem to get internet... before I can go any further, Cheers for now Dazza

You can download BlueScreenViewer on a different computer, copy it to a usb drive (or cd or any removable medium), transfer it to the problematic computer, and run it in safe mode if need be.

Okay Allen will do. Whilst waiting I plugged the "Acer Computer" into my Wireless Router Modem (Port 2) via an Ethernet cable I had and "Rebooted" and it did another (4)"Start-up Repairs" and "Can Search online for a Solution's" and then "Rebooted" and it has been running like a Train ever since. I think it has self repaired by installing some "Drivers" or whatever" once it was on the Net and that's fixed it! I hope.

I have installed and upgraded MWMBs as you advised and I am running a full MWMBs scan on the "Acer Computer" (in Normal mode) right now. He only had Kaspersky installed. MWMBs has got me outta most Jams over time, :thumbup2: I swear by it.

I will install "Blue-screen" and run it and send you the Log's as soon as its finished the MWMBs scan and then we can see what you think, Dazza :)

The errors relate to your Nvida card. Did you recently install a new video driver? If so, please roll it back. If not, please visit the Nvidia site and download and install the latest driver for your card.

Also, make sure Windows Update is NOT set to install drivers. It should be set to install critical updates only.

Thanks Allen Just a couple of questions, sa I have had nothing at all to do with Windows Vista its all new to me.

1) How do I know which "Nvidia Driver" to uninstall-reinstall?
and where do I find it?

2) Where (how) do I set the "Acer computer" to "Do NOT Update Drivers Automatically?

The computer had (67) "Windows Updates" not installed. Probably because my son had it set to update at (0300) when the computer was off and the fact that it's been offline for weeks! I have changed that to "Notify me when Updates are due - Let me install them"
It has installed (65) of the (67) updates" the Error Code for the (2) not installed was (80073712)

It has just found another (6) Windows Updates after the the update Reboot" It's installing them now,

It failed to Install 3 of the 6 and the same error message 80073712 is up and its asking me to reboot again, it will probably keep failing to install them until I install another Nvidia driver? I will wait and see what you think Allen, Dazza Allen Just back again (1400 Sat) I have Just checked the "Windows Updates Failures" (Rebooted Acer Again) and there are failures way back 3 years listed I have Screenshots back to (2011) in them I saw a Nvidia Update and a few Net Frame updates that failed do you want these? I will have to mail them as I cannot add Attachments if they don't matter just disregard this last section of today's Post :busy: Dazza

Let's start again

1) Go to the Nvidia website and download and install the latest driver for your video card.

2) Control Panel - Windows Update - Put a check in: Download Updates but let me choose whether to install them. Then, NEVER install driver updates.

3) Don't worrk about the Net Framework Updates for now

G/morning Allan, I had already done the: "Let me choose whether to install them" thing. And have told my Son Why.

The Updating of the "Nvidia Ge-force Driver" (for Vista Sys 32 x86) was done Via: Start> Right click Computer > Management > Display Adapters > Properties > Find and Update Driver/ Rebooted and all is Good,
Cheers Dazza
