My laptop has not been running as smoothly as it use to. It seems to have gotten worse in the past few weeks. Firefox(I don't use internet explorer at all) is freezing, and video's that use to run don't want to run anymore, which made me look into what items I can remove from my computer and what items I have running at startup and which ones I can remove from startup. I wound up removing 12 items from startup, when I came upon the igfxtray.exe startup item with the name igfx Tray Module, your website informed me that it is in fact malware, and that it should be removed. So I am posting here in order to hopefully get some help in removing it please. I have ran a full system scan on Norton 360, but it doesn't detect any virus or such at this time.

Thank you very much for your time and expertise.
Ashley

Good evening. :)

when I came upon the igfxtray.exe startup item with the name igfx Tray Module, your website informed me that it is in fact malware, and that it should be removed.

Did you remove it, and if so, how?

My laptop has not been running as smoothly as it use to.

I suspect that the age of your Windows installation is something to do with this: 4/28/2010. Sadly Windows slows down over time due to it's nature, installation/uninstallations, Windows Updates etc... take their toll, and a fresh install is the fix for that. I tend to reinstall Windows every eight to ten months to try and keep it ticking over nicely.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

I removed the igfxTray Module from startup via Norton 360 under startup manager. Forgive me because I don't know a whole lot about the proper terms when it comes to computer stuff. But inside Norton 360 under Performance it has a Startup Manager, which allows for me to turn off or on a list of different programs. I turned Off the igfxTray Module. However, I am not sure if that removes it from my computer? Do I need to do something more to get the igfxTray Module off of my computer?

How would I go about reinstalling Windows? If I were to reinstall windows would that help with my problem of not being able to stream videos smoothly like I use to?

Thank you for your help.

Good evening. :)

Did your Acer computer come with a back-up disk or did you get the option to burn one when you first turned the PC on?

So long, and thanks for all the fish.
